Or some of them, anyway. I’ve been listening to The Handmaid’s Tale on audiobook lately, and it’s gotten me thinking about dystopian novels. They’ve been around for a while, but there is definitely a trend, especially in YA, as of late. And it doesn’t surprise me, with all of the uncertainty going around in the world. So this has gotten me thinking about my own favorite dystopian novels and series, from past and present. So I present to you just a few of them.
I know I’m an adult, but I read a lot of YA fiction (even if I didn’t enjoy them, I’d try to keep up with them. I’m a teacher, and I like being able to talk to my students about reading). The book box I get (Uppercase) sends out new YA books every month. So far, I’ve loved them all, but here are my top 3.
- My Lady Jane by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows
This book was a delight. Historical, hysterical, magical (sorry, I couldn’t think of another h word). A consuming and fun read. I can’t wait to go back for more.
